Being Enough

I doubt myself most days.
Am I doing enough for Kane?
Am I supporting him in the right ways?
Should I have understood his needs quicker, reacted differently, or done more?

These thoughts linger more often than I’d like to admit. The truth is, we weren’t prepared for this. There’s no handbook, no step-by-step guide to raising a neurodiverse child — because what would it even say? Every child is unique, every need different, every day its own learning curve.

We are learning as we go. Every single day. And yes, we will get it wrong sometimes. But that’s okay.

What truly matters is that we are here.
We show up — every day, every night, through every meltdown, breakthrough, and quiet moment in between. We are their safe place. Their constant. The one they can always come back to, no matter how chaotic the world around them feels.

It’s easy to forget, on those hard days, when exhaustion takes over and self-doubt creeps in, that to them, we are everything.

Every small gesture counts — the faintest smile, the quiet presence, the hug that they reserve for no one else. Those are reminders of how much we mean to them. Those are the unspoken ways they say, “You’re my person.”

So even when you feel like you’re falling short — remember this:
You are enough.
You always have been.
You always will be.

Because showing up, loving fiercely, and holding their hearts through it all — that’s what truly matters.
