It Doesn’t Matter, I’ll Do It Myself

The title says it all, really.

Even when the smallest smidgen of help is offered, we still refuse it. Why? Because we’ve already risk assessed it, already telepathically seen how it would play out if someone else did it instead of us.

The truth is, for someone to do what we do — even for an hour — isn’t something that can be done without meticulous planning, intense training, and not to mention the advanced fitness test that’s absolutely non-negotiable.

We didn’t get this good overnight.
We weren’t always on high alert.
We weren’t born with these Matrix-level reflexes and crisis-management skills.

We may have days where we resent those who should help and support us.
We may sob quietly, wishing we had that go-to person to lean on.

But deep down, we know the truth — we don’t trust anyone else’s capability when it comes to these precious hurricanes we call our children.

We’ve kept them alive through blood, sweat, anxiety, and tears.
They trust us.
They seek us.
They depend on us.

So, no matter how much we say, “We don’t have our village,”
the reality is — even if we did, chances are, it wouldn’t make the grade.

Because no one can do what we do.
And we’ll always whisper, “It doesn’t matter… I’ll do it myself.”
